MASALA SOYA CHAAP

Masala soya chaap is the ultimate vegetarian comfort food from North India. Soya chaap is a vegan meat made with soya beans. Across the North India the soya chaap sticks are creatively used to make various vegetarian dishes. The reason behind the popularity of soya chaap is the chicken like texture and ability to absorb the flavour of the curry. Masala soya chaap goes well with naan or rumali roti.


Let's prepare the Masala Soya Chaap:--

INGREDIENTS:--

  1. Soya chaap-- 500g

  2. Onion-- 3(sliced)

  3. Tomato-- 2 medium

  4. Ginger-- 1inch

  5. Garlic-- 5 Cloves

  6. Green cardamon-- 4

  7. Black cardamon-- 1

  8. Cinnamon stick-- 1 inch

  9. Cloves-- 4

  10. Turmeric powder-- 1tsp

  11. Red chillipowder-1tsp

  12. Cumin powder-- 1tsp

  13. Coriander powder-- 2tsp

  14. Kashmiri red chilli powder--1tbsp

  15. Salt-- to taste

  16. Fresh cream-- 2tbsp

  17. Kasuri methi-- 1 1/2tsp

  18. Oil -- as required

METHOD:--

  1. If u r using frozen soya chaap, defrost them.

  1. Slices onion and keep aside.

  1. Now take a fry pan,add oil. As soon as oil heat up add soya chaap.

  1. Fry soya chaap till it trun golden brown in colour. Keep the flame in medium to low heat.


  1. Fry all the soya chaap and keep aside.


  1. In the same pan add sliced onions. If required add oil.


  1. Fry onions till it trun golden brown. And keep aside,let it cool down completely. As it cool down make paste out of it.

  1. Now take a mixer jar add chopped tomato,garlic, ginger and make a smooth paste out of it.

  2. Now in the same pan add green cardamon, Cinnamon, Clove and and black Cinnamon for tempering.


  1. Add tomato paste. Stir continuously till it release oil.

  1. Add all the powdered ingredients.

  1. Stir continuously to avoid the burning of masala. Add dash of water.


  1. As soon as masala releases the oil add brown onion paste.

  1. Mix well and add fired soya chaap.

  1. Add half cup of water and kasuri methi.

  1. Mix all the ingredients and adjust salt at this point. Cover the pan for 5 to 10 min. at lowest heat. Or till oil ooze out from the masala.

  2. As soon as the oil ooze out from the masala and soya chaap is done. Switch off the flame. And add fresh cream.

  1. Mix well and cover the pan with a lid. Give standing time for last 5 min. Masala soya chaap is ready to serve.

Enjoy with roti,naan,rumali roti.
