COCONUT MODAK

Lord Ganeshsa's favourite sweet is modak. It is made in many Hindu homes during GANESH CHATURTHI festival. The most popular variety of modak that is made is Ukadiche Modak (steamed modak)which is from the Maharashtraian cuisine. But today I am sharing the recipe of coconut modak . Easy to make and delicious too.



Let's prepare the coconut modak.

INGREDIENTS:--

  1. Coconut-- 1 1/2cup( grated)

  2. Ghee -- 2tbsp

  3. Condensed milk-- 150ml

  4. Cardamon powder-- 1tsp

  5. Cashew nuts-- 1tbsp (chopped)

  6. Khoya-- 1/2 cup

  7. Yellow food colour-- for garnishing ( optional)

METHOD:--

  1. Take a coconut and deshelled it.

2. Now take a mixer jar add coconut pieces and grind it.


  1. Take Condensed milk. Keep aside.


  1. Now take fry pan add ghee. As soon as ghee heat up add grated coconut.

  1. Stir continuously on low heat to avoid burning.

  2. Now add khoya. Mix well.

7. Now add Condensed milk. Mix well. Keep the heat at its lowest.


8. Stir continuously till it all come together and take almost dough like shape.


  1. Remove from the heat. Transfer it in a plate to cool down.


  1. When the dough is in warm condition start making modak with the help of modak mould.

  2. Take a modak mould and grease it.


  1. Fill each cavity with the coconut dough and add cashew nuts in the centre.

13. Now press the modak mould tightly to give the shape.



  1. Now De-mould it .




15. Make modak out of the dough and garnish it with food colour.


16. Easy and delicious coconut modak is ready.
